Charity Profile: Furniture Sharehouse

Furniture Sharehouse is a wonderful organization that provides free furniture to families in need in Westchester county. The Junkluggers have been proudly partnering with Furniture Sharehouse for years, providing free furniture to needy families in the area. The families we support include those who are moving into permanent housing from homeless shelters, battered women and children rebuilding their lives, victims of fires or other natural disasters, young adults aging out of foster care, and working families struggling to stay above the poverty line.

Whenever The Junkluggers of Westchester hauls away any unwanted, gently used furniture, our first stop is to donate the items to Furniture Sharehouse. Last month we were able to help Furniture Sharehouse reach their goal of providing 10 tables for families to gather around and eat their Thanksgiving dinner on. Before the year is over, we’d like to do what we can to help them reach their new goal of furnishing homes for 10 more families.

If you don’t have any unwanted furniture you need lugged away, you can still help by making a monetary donation. It takes $300 to fully furnish a home through Furniture Sharehouse and small donations add up quickly.
