The Junkluggers have turned to trash when it comes to their newest Facebook contest. They’re asking fans to submit photos of their refurbished, reused, and repurposed projects in a competition for a $200 Visa gift card.

Given that The Junkluggers fan base is largely centered around trendy New York City and Brooklyn, there are an undoubted number of artsy types who have countless recycled furniture and light fixtures. The competition brings attention to the benefit of refurbishing existing materials and using what may be considered trash (bottles and magazines) for decoration, instead of tossing them in a landfill. The company has always taken a stance in favor of recycling, and aim to donate and recycle 100% of all items they remove by 2016, setting the standard in the United States for eco-friendly disposal practices.
