For the friend who can’t stand the cold
There is nothing more fitting for those of us here in the Great White North than a Winter Survival Kit. We deal with a lot of below-freezing temperatures, wind, rain, and tons of snow. Put together a small kit in a little basket or even a Rubbermaid container with some of our suggested items (many of which you might already have lying around!) to help survive the brutal cold:
- Small bottle of lotion
- Chapstick
- Fuzzy socks
- Hot cocoa packets
- Tissues
- Cans of soup
- Hand sanitizer
- Favorite winter DVD

All you need to do is slap a bow on it and you’ve got yourself an inexpensive gift. A fun variation of this idea is to get a bunch of little airplane bottles (different flavors, of course) and stick them in a stocking or tissue paper filled gift bag.
- Picture in a frame Do you have a photo printer and a frame? Perfect! You have the ingredients required to make a fantastic last-minute gift. Just make sure you’ve got a fun photo to print out!
- Flowers Simple, but effective. There’s a reason flowers are so popular! They are such an easy grab-and-go gift. They’re beautiful, don’t break the bank, and come pre-wrapped! You might even consider buying a potted flower that will last longer than traditional cut flowers.
- Re-gift Though this isn’t our favorite idea, desperate times call for extreme measures! We’ve all received countless scented candles and gift baskets that we haven’t used. You can just take one of those gifts, re-package it festively, and voila, instant gift! We advise you to check expiration dates and make sure you don’t re-gift to the person who gave it to you in the first place.
