The Junkluggers of Austin Announced as a Finalist for Westie Award

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Westlake Chamber of Commerce announced The Junkluggers of Austin as finalists for the Westie Award for New Business of the Year. The Westie is given to a business that has been opened for less than two years in the Greater Westlake area. Companies need to demonstrate one or more of the following: Growth and Stability, Commitment to Quality, Creative or Unique Solutions to Challenges, Entrepreneurial Spirit, and/or an Overall Contribution to The Greater Westlake Community.

The Junkluggers is owned by a local resident, Laura Chavez. Laura has quickly become an active member within the Westlake Chamber. She is a Community Ambassador, sits on the humanitarian board and was a member of the 2018 coat drive and participated in Wonderfest. The Junkluggers of Austin teamed up with the chamber this year to collect coats and cold weather gear benefitting Mobile Loaves and Fishes. The Junkluggers were able to donate their trucks, time, and labor to help with this important cause from box set up to final delivery. The Junkluggers work hard to partner with many charities throughout the Austin Area to benefit those in the greatest need. The Junkluggers has also partnered with residents who come together to help women and children. The families donate the goods, and The Junkluggers pick up and deliver the items. "The Junkluggers work tirelessly to donate their items to local charities. Residents receive donation receipts, and they may even get a tax deduction! " said Laura. "We also deliver household chemicals, paints and other items directly to the Austin Resource Recovery program on a regular basis helping to keep Austin safe and beautiful.
